As a woman and African-American, I have always been aware of the progress that was made by those who came before me. Where I failed was that I assumed that we would always build on past success and continually move forward; I thought that even though, at times, it may be slow going I believed that it would always be progress.
The past five years have been disheartening but eye opening. We are REGRESSING as a nation and in almost every area that is important to humanity. We trumpet "Land of the Free" to the public while under our breath we mumble unless you are female, of color, poor, elderly, ill, or have a different sexual orientation.
We have rested on the laurels of our forefathers and foremothers and thought it would be smoother sailing and look at what we have become.
The time for a new organized revolution is upon us, we are gaining very little ground with our current fractured revolutions for separate causes as if any failure of equality falls in a different category.
We need to ban together for equality for all and once and for all!
No change can occur without people like you! God Bless your blog!
